Lehigh Sweeps Lafayette, Moves to 2-0 in Patriot League Play

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh continued its strong start to Patriot League play Sunday afternoon, sweeping Lafayette 3-0, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-16, in the Rivalry presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in Patriot League play, hitting .340 as a team while recording 49 kills, three service aces and eight total blocks.Â
Alysia Fingall led the Mountain Hawks with 11 kills, one service ace, two solo blocks and one block assist. Ufuoma Omene added 10 kills while hitting .471, while Olivia Lasee recorded 10 kills and hit an impressive .600. Mary Massias contributed seven kills, one service ace and one solo block.Â
Paighton Erb provided an efficient offensive performance, recording five kills on seven attacks without an error to hit .714. Natalie Luscomb added six kills, while Sophia Bond once again led the defensive effort, finishing with 12 digs.Â
"Olivia was outstanding today. They are a really good defensive team, and to be able to hit .340 against them was a great performance offensively. Our middles were really good all weekend, and I thought people stepped up when we needed them to. It was a great team effort," said head coach Shawn McLaughlin.Â
Set 1 Lehigh (25-16)
Lehigh opened the match with a dominant offensive performance, hitting .500 with 16 kills and just three errors. Omene and Fingall each recorded four kills, while Lasee added three as the Mountain Hawks cruised to a 1-0 lead.Â
Set 2 Lehigh (25-19)
The Mountain Hawks continued to control the match in the second set, earning a 25-19 victory. Lehigh recorded 16 kills and hit .256, with Omene leading the way with four kills. Fingall and Massias each added three kills as Lehigh took a 2-0 advantage.Â
Set 3 Lehigh (25-16)
Lehigh closed out the sweep with a 25-16 victory in the third set. The Mountain Hawks recorded 17 kills and hit .324, with Fingall leading the way with four kills. Lasee added three kills, while Erb recorded two as Lehigh completed the rivalry sweep.Â
