Mountain Hawks to Play First Place Holy Cross on Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's basketball team will head to Worcester, Mass., to take on first place Holy Cross on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
At 3-1 in the Patriot League, Lehigh is currently in fourth place. The Crusaders are tied with Boston University for first place. The two programs are both 4-0 in the league. Lehigh has an overall record of 7-8, while Holy Cross is 12-3.
The Mountain Hawks are on a two-game win streak, while the Crusaders are riding a four-game win streak.
Lehigh and Holy Cross both played Stonehill in the regular season. Lehigh defeated Stonehill 60-43 in the season-opener, and Stonehill was also defeated by the Crusaders, 74-62 on Dec. 8.
So far, senior Frannie Hottinger continues to lead the way. The senior is coming off her fourth Patriot League Player of the Week honors after averaging 18.5 points and 11 rebounds in two wins last week.
Hottinger is just the second player to ever achieve the honor at least four times in a season. The Minnesota native has already scored a season-high of 307 points just 15 games in. She also leads the league in scoring, putting up 20.5 points per game.
Junior Jamie Behar is coming off of a season-high performance, where she scored 15 points off the bench against Navy.
Sophomore guard Ella Stemmer earned her first career start against the Midshipmen on Jan. 8. She finished with 10 points.
Wednesday's game will be a battle of the best defense and the best offense in the league. The Mountain Hawks are averaging 73.1 points per game, and Holy Cross is limiting teams to just 51.9 points per game.
The Mountain Hawks are 29-47 all-time against the Crusaders. Last season, both teams won on their respective home courts.
Bronagh Power-Cassidy leads the way for the Crusaders with 11.7 points per game. Janelle Allen is next with 10.7 points per game.
Not only is Lehigh leading the league in scoring, but they also lead the league and nation in free throw percentage. The Mountain Hawks are shooting 80.8 % from the charity stripe.
