BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball team continues its Patriot League schedule on Friday, taking on Loyola Maryland in a Dig Pink Match at 7 p.m. and Navy at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.

The Mountain Hawks (4-10, 1-3 PL) swept Bucknell last weekend, securing their first Patriot League victory of the 2021 season. Leading from the start of the day to claim the three-set win, Lehigh won its seventh consecutive victory over the Bison. On Saturday, the Mountain Hawks fell to archrival Lafayette in four sets at home.

Against Bucknell, fifth year senior Sabrina Lancaster had nine kills, leading her teammates for the second consecutive match. Freshman Emily Stewart had seven kills, Megan Schulte had six with five digs and Ava Hudson crushed five with a team-best four service aces in the victory.

Freshman Makena Smith registered 26 assists, eight digs and four kills vs. the Bison and was named a Patriot League Honorable Mention for the second week in a row. Freshman Kyleigh Brown picked up a team-high 13 digs for the final match of the weekend.

With a hitting percentage of .196 through 51 sets this season, the Mountain Hawks are ranked third in the Patriot League in that category. Lehigh is fourth in assists/set (10.67), third in kills/set (11.92), first in blocks/set (2.25) and second in total service aces (88).

The Mountain Hawks still have 12 Patriot League matches remaining on the 2021 slate and are currently in eighth place of nine teams. Lehigh is tied with Bucknell for seventh and a game back from Navy for the sixth and final spot in the Patriot League Tournament field.

Loyola Maryland comes into Friday's matchup as the top dog in the Patriot League at 3-0 and one of the hotter teams in the nation, winning eight straight contests. The Greyhounds (11-3, 3-0 PL) opened the league schedule with a 3-0 sweep of Navy, a four-set win over defending champion Army West Point on Sept. 24 as well as a sweep of Holy Cross.

With 2018 Patriot League Coach of the Year Alija Pittenger at the helm of the program in her seventh season, she has turned the Greyhounds into a formidable opponent in recent years.

Abby Hamilton leads Loyola with 197 kills, averaging 4.28 per set. She also has 15 service aces, 139 digs and 16 total blocks to her name. A three-time All-Patriot League selection and three-time Patriot League Libero of the Year, Katie Forsythe is on the same path this season as her past campaigns, leading the league with 268 digs at 5.84 per set. The Greyhounds are the Patriot League dig leaders by far with 906 (19.70 per set).

Two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week Kacy Sekunda leads the team with 432 assists, while Adara Kellogg has a team-best 40 blocks.

Lehigh leads the all-time series over Loyola Maryland, 20-4 dating back to 1985. The Mountain Hawks won in five sets in Baltimore this past spring and are winners of 18 of the last 19 matchups.

It's been a so-so start for Navy in 2021, going 5-7 overall with a 1-3 Patriot League record at this point in the season. The Midshipmen dropped a tough four-set match to rival Army West Point at home on Saturday, just a day removed from sweeping Colgate in straight sets.

Jamie Llewellyn leads the Mids with 106 kills this season, while Avery Stowell trails with 98 so far. Averi Miller's 223 assists, Kimberly Lynch's 144 digs and Maggie Bodman's 37 blocks are all team-bests.

Navy leads the Patriot League in service aces per set with 1.76. It's currently fifth in assists per set (10.45) and sixth in blocks per set (1.73).

The Midshipmen hold a 35-27 edge all-time against the Mountain Hawks and are victorious in the last five meetings. Lehigh hasn't gotten the win over Navy since Nov. 7, 2017 in five sets.

Friday's match will be streamed live on ESPN+ and while Saturday's match will not be streamed, live stats will be provided.
