Lehigh Opens Fall With Runner-Up Finish at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lehigh women's golf team capped its first tournament of the fall season with a second place showing at the Bucknell Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 314 on Sunday to finish the 54-hole event at 924 (300-310-314). Navy ran away with the team title, finishing 39 strokes ahead of the second place Mountain Hawks.
Freshman Madison Pineda was the top finisher for Lehigh, tying for 11th place at 228 (74-75-79). Pineda made a pair of birdies in her final round.
Sophomore Sophie Holland carded the low round for Lehigh on Sunday, a 73, to move into 14th place at 231 (79-79-73). Holland made three birdies in her Sunday round.
Lehigh's leader after Saturday's 36 holes was junior Hannah Foster. She shot 84 on Sunday to finish in 15th place at 232 (70-78-84).
Sophomores Meghna Grover and Sophia Taverna completed their first Lehigh tournaments this weekend. Grover finished in 20th place at 236 (80-78-78) while Taverna shot 243 (77-81-85) and tied for 32nd.
The Mountain Hawks also had two players compete as individuals. Freshman Mia Scarpati tied for 18th place at 235 (81-76-78), while junior Marina Mendez tied for 46th at 254 (86-84-84).
Reese Wilson of Howard was the individual medalist at 218, with her final round 72 breaking the tie against Navy's Mara Hirle.
The Mountain Hawks will next play in Navy's Fall Invitational Oct. 2-3 in Annapolis, Md.
