Mountain Hawks Head To Annapolis For Navy Fall Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's golf team will be participating in the Navy Fall Invitational at the Naval Academy Golf Club Oct. 2-3.
Teams participating at the two-day, 36-hole event include: Bucknell, Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, La Salle, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Richmond, Sacred Heart, and Wagner.
Lehigh opened its fall season last weekend at Bucknell's Fall Invitational The Mountain Hawks finished the 54-hole tournament at 924 (300-310-314), which was good for second in the 11-team field. Navy won the team title at Bucknell last weekend. Â
Freshman Madison Pineda was the top finisher for Lehigh, tying in 11th place at 228 (74-75-79). Pineda also made a pair of birdies in her final round and garnered honorable mention recognition from the Patriot League.Â
Pineda was one of four Mountain Hawks to debut last weekend. Sophomores Meghna Grover and Sophia Taverna played in their first tournaments as did freshman Mia Scarpati.
Lehigh's lineup at Navy will feature Pineda, sophomore Sophie Holland, junior Hannah Foster, Scarpati and Grover. Taverna and junior Marina Mendez will compete as individuals.
Foster was Lehigh's top performer in Saturday's opening 36 holes at Bucknell, shooting 148 (70-78) in rounds one and two.
The Navy Fall Invitational will feature tee times off holes No. 1 and 10 beginning at 8:30 on Saturday and then tee times off 1 and 10 Sunday at 8 a.m. Lehigh will be playing with Patriot League foes Richmond and Bucknell Saturday, with tee times off the first tee beginning at 9:20 a.m.Â

Next up after the Navy Fall Invitational will be the Quinnipiac Classic, Oct. 11-12 in Wallingford, Conn.
