Lehigh Finishes Eighth At Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women's golf team shaved 13 strokes off its Saturday score as the Mountain Hawks finished in eighth place out of 13 teams at the Navy Fall Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks shot 308 Sunday to finish at 629 (321-308).
 
Freshman Madison Pineda led Lehigh for the second straight week, tying for fifth place at 149 (75-74). Pineda made three birdies in a four hole stretch Sunday to card Lehigh's low round of the weekend.
 
Sophomore Sophie Holland improved seven strokes over her round one score, shooting 76 to finish in a tie for 30th at 159 (83-76). Holland's final round included two birdies.
 
Junior Hannah Foster battled back from an 83 Saturday to shoot 77 on Sunday and tie for 34th place at 160. Foster's final round featured one birdie.
 
Lehigh's two other scoring players were sophomore Meghna Grover, who tied for 40th at 162 (81-81) and freshman Mia Scarpati, who shot 167 (82-85) and tied for 49th.
 
Sophomore Sophia Taverna had a strong weekend competing as an individual as she tied for 11th place at 151 (77-74). Taverna matched Pineda for low Lehigh round of the weekend.
 
Junior Marina Mendez finished in 71st place at 186 (89-97).
 
Richmond and Sacred Heart tied for the team title at 607. Nattavadee Khunsri of Delaware State was the individual medalist, finishing at six under par 138 and posting a seven stroke victory.

Lehigh will next play in the Quinnipiac Classic, Oct. 10-11 in Wallingford, Conn.
