
Mountain Hawks Finish Fifth At Quinnipiac Classic

WALLINGFORD, Conn. – On a day when scores went up across the leaderboard, Lehigh finished in fifth place out of 12 teams at the Quinnipiac Classic, which wrapped up Tuesday at The Farms Country Club. The Mountain Hawks placed three players in the top 25 individually and shot 326 on Tuesday to finish the 54-hole event at 956 (314-316-326).
For the third straight tournament it was freshman Madison Pineda leading the way for the Mountain Hawks. Pineda shot a team-best 77 on Tuesday to tie for seventh place at 234 (77-80-77). She made one birdie in her final round.
Sophomore Sophie Holland tied for 11th place at 235 (78-76-81), while junior Hannah Foster was the third Mountain Hawk in the top 25, tying for 23rd place at 240 (79-80-81). Foster also made one birdie in her final round.
Junior Iris Shin finished in 40th place in her first tournament of the year, shooting 90 on Tuesday to finish at 250 (80-80-90). Freshman Mia Scarpati carded a birdie in her final round 87 and tied for 57th place at 266 (94-85-87).
Tournament host Quinnipiac went wire-to-wire to win the team title at 918 (304-303-311). The Bobcats defeated second place St. John's by 18 strokes.
Quinnipiac's Elyse Kim was the individual medalist at seven over par 223 (71-74-78). She posted a six stroke victory over two players.
The Mountain Hawks will conclude their fall campaign when they host the Lehigh Invitational, Oct. 25-26 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
