Mountain Hawks host Lafayette, Bucknell Saturday and Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A big weekend of volleyball is ahead as the Lehigh volleyball hosts archrival Lafayette Saturday in The Rivalry, presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network and Coordinated Health as well as Bucknell Sunday inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.
The Mountain Hawks (3-9, 0-2 PL) are coming off back-to-back losses to Colgate and Army West Point to open the Patriot League slate, falling to the Black Knights in five sets after battling back down 0-2.
Lehigh had two players named honorable mentions when the Patriot League released their awards earlier this week as fifth year senior Hannah Wright and freshman Makena Smith had standout weekends. Wright had 10 kills against Colgate and 15 against Army with six total blocks to lead the team, while Smith finished with 23 assists and eight digs against the Raiders, 46 assists and a career-high 19 digs against the Black Knights.
Wright and freshman Megan Schulte lead the team with 129 kills, with the latter averaging 3.00 per set. Wright's .258 attack percentage paces the team. Smith has a team-best 355 assists with 8.66 per set and 10 service aces, while on the defensive side of the ball, Kyleigh Brown has 148 digs and Emily Stewart has 43 blocks.
Lehigh as a team is hitting just .180 this season with 11.4 kills per set. The Mountain Hawks are once again one of the best blocking teams in the Patriot League so far this year, averaging 2.2 blocks per set with a total of 102.
Heading into the matchup on Saturday afternoon, Lafayette is 4-6 overall, 1-1 within the Patriot League following a three-set sweep at Holy Cross last Sunday following a three-set loss to Colgate on the road on Saturday. The Leopards are at Bucknell Friday night.
Undoubtedly one of the best players in the Patriot League this season, Leanna Deegan is dominating her competition with 207 kills, by far the leader on the team with 5.59 per set. She is hitting .230 with 89 digs and 14 total blocks. Alyssa Vitale's 392 assists is tops on the Leopards, while Katie Weston leads the team with 127 digs and Madi Wahrmund has 27 blocks.
Lehigh leads the all-time Rivalry series, 62-32 with Saturday marking the 95th all-time meeting. The Leopards won both meetings in March by a score of 3-1. Lehigh has won nine of the last 11 matchups.
Bucknell has had success this season despite dropping three of its last four matches. The Bison (5-6, 1-1 PL) defeated Holy Cross in its last time out, 3-1 after falling at Army on Friday, 3-0. Bucknell is 1-2 against Lehigh's common opponents, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn in the season opener, falling to Penn and Army West Point in straight sets.
Catherine Jamison has 104 kills to lead the Bison so far this season, averaging 3.15 kills per set. Sarah Ramirez has 353 assists, while Jordan Hardy has 153 digs. Allie Lopez is Bucknell's leading blocker with 29 total blocks to her name.
The Mountain Hawks hold a 53-29 advantage all-time over Bucknell and have won six straight matchups dating back to the 2017 season.
Saturday's match with Lafayette will be streamed live on ESPN+ with first serve set for 4 p.m. Sunday's match will not be streamed, but live stats will be provided with a 4 p.m. first serve once again.
