Mountain Hawks To Host Fall Invitational Beginning Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After opening its fall season with a successful showing at the Villanova Invitational, the Lehigh men's tennis team will host its annual fall invitational this Saturday and Sunday.Â
Lehigh welcomes Howard, Fairfield and Monmouth to the Ulrich Varsity Courts and the Lewis Tennis Center on Goodman Campus. Action begins at 10 a.m. both days.
At the Villanova Invitational, competed in a best of 2-of-3 series consisting of one doubles match and two singles matches. Senior Zach Elliott and freshman Marc Blekhman were paired and won the Blue Draw; sophomore Jordan Paul and junior Michael Bukhalo teamed up to win the White Draw. Bukhalo won the third set super tiebreak to gain the title over a team from Villanova.
Juniors Matt Kleiman and Jeremy Learner bounced back after losing their opening match to claim ninth place in the Blue Draw, while seniors Gary Fishkin and Andrew Nakhjavan split their four matches to finish in sixth place in the White Draw.Â
Elliott went undefeated in singles play and stands as a two-time All-Patriot League honoree after earning first team honors just this past spring.Â
The Lehigh Invitational will feature a "hidden dual" format.Â
On Saturday, Lehigh will begin with singles matches against Monmouth, followed by a round of doubles against Howard and then another round of singles against Fairfield.Â
Sunday's final day of competition will begin with Lehigh-Fairfield doubles, followed by Lehigh vs. Howard in singles and then Lehigh-Monmouth doubles.
Following the Lehigh Invitational, the Mountain Hawks will compete at the Saint Joseph's Invitational, Sept 24-26 in Merion Station, Pa.
