Lehigh Wins Both Draws at Fall-Opening Villanova Invitational

VILLANOVA, Pa. – As part of a strong start to the fall season, Lehigh teams won both championship flights at Villanova Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday. The three-day event featured brackets with pairings playing a best 2-of-3 series consisting of one doubles match and two singles matches.
Senior Zack Elliott teamed with freshman Marc Blekhman to win the Blue Draw, while sophomore Jordan Paul and junior Michael Bukhalo emerged victorious in the White Draw.
Participating teams included Patriot League foes Colgate and Loyola, plus Saint Joseph's, Johns Hopkins and Swarthmore along with host Villanova. Paul and Bukhalo's run to the title featured one 3-0 victory and three 2-1 wins. Bukhalo won a third set super tiebreak to clinch the title over a team from Villanova.
In the Blue Draw, juniors Matt Kleiman and Jeremy Learner dropped their opening round match but came back to claim ninth place. In the White Draw seniors Gary Fishkin and Andrew Nakhjavan split their four matches and finished in sixth place.

The Mountain Hawks will next host the Lehigh Invitational, Sept. 18-19 on the Ulrich Varsity Courts and inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
