Bednarsky, Luchini earn Preseason All-Patriot League honors; Lehigh picked fifth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its preseason accolades for the 2021 men's soccer season on Tuesday afternoon, as two members of the Lehigh men's soccer program earned Preseason All-Patriot League team for the upcoming year. The awards were voted on by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
For the second straight year, fifth year midfielder Stevo Bednarsky and senior forward Josh Luchini earned Preseason All-Patriot League honors, while the Mountain Hawks were picked to finish fifth in 2021.
A three-time All-Patriot League selection, including a First Team honoree for the spring 2021 season, Bednarsky returns to Lehigh for his fifth and final season. While not tallying points last year, he scored two goals and an assist during the Mountain Hawks' 2019 championship run. A two-time co-captain, Bednarsky was named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award last year and has an opportunity to become a two-time honoree.
Luchini played just three games last season and started two of them, but kicked off his campaign with a bang, scoring his second career hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Bucknell. A Third Team All-American and Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year in 2019, he has registered 20 goals and seven assists for 47 points throughout his decorated career at Lehigh.
The Mountain Hawks kick off the 2021 campaign on Friday, Aug. 27 at Manhattan and host Vermont on Sunday, Aug. 29 in the home opener at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
