Three Mountain Hawks Recognized As All-American Scholars By The WGCA

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three members of the Lehigh women's golf team have been named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). Sophomores Marina Mendez and Iris Shin earned WGCA All-American Scholar recognition for the second straight year and are joined on the list by freshman Sophie Holland.
A total of 1,432 golfers across multiple divisions were named All-American Scholars. To be eligible, a student-athlete must hold a grade point average better than 3.50.
Shin holds a 3.73 cumulative GPA in molecular biology that includes a 3.76 in the recently completed spring semester. She played in five of Lehigh's seven events this spring, shooting 79 at Bucknell in late March and finishing 24th at the Patriot League Championship.
Mendez is pursuing an integrated degree in finance and civil engineering and carries a 3.65 GPA. She competed in all seven events this spring, tying for second with a 79 in a home dual victory over La Salle in early April. Mendez finished 30th at the Patriot League Championship.
Holland has declared a major in mechanical engineering, where she owns a 3.62 GPA. Lehigh's top performer during the spring season, Holland had a 77.75 scoring average, the third lowest in program history. She led Lehigh in four of its six regular season events and carded the two lowest Mountain Hawk scores at the Patriot League Championship.
The Lehigh trio comprises three of the 17 Patriot League women's golfers honored by the WGCA.
