
Lehigh topped by Bucknell in Lewisburg; Mountain Hawks win eight total events

LEWISBURG, Pa. – In the second meet of the year, the Lehigh men's and women's swimming and diving team traveled to Lewisburg on Saturday afternoon for an in-person showdown. The women's team suffered a 175-119 defeat, while the men dropped a 192-89 contest to the Bison. Throughout the day, the Mountain Hawks won eight events in total. The women won five events and the men won three events.
Starting with the women, a key contributor on the day was senior Ann Foley. Foley won two individual events in the 50 free (24.04) and the 100 free (52.24), while also finishing second in the 200 free at 1:54.57. Anna Thomas also registered a win for the Brown and White in the 200 IM (2:13.32), while first-year swimmer Kelsey Thompson earned a second-place finish in the same event at 2:14.65.
The Lehigh women also tallied two wins in the relays in the afternoon. In the 200 medley relay, the group of Anna Francisco, Sam Gallego, Malia Wolf and Noel Fresa earned the win with a time of 1:47.24. then in the 200 free relay, Lehigh's Olivia Giampietro, Sarah Manthorp, Foley and Fresa picked up the victory at 1:37.97.
The senior Francisco also registered a second-place finish in the 100 back at 58.30, while Wolf earned a second in the 200 fly at 2:07.96 and the 100 fly at 58.36.
In the 1000 free, sophomore Sarah Hardy finished third with a mark at 10:53.63, while sophomore Hallie Wilson also finished third in the 200 back at 2:08.01. In the 200 breast, the senior registered a third-place finish with a time of 2:28.77.
Moving to the men's side, the Brown and White registered three wins on the day. One of the wins came in the 200 free relay, and then senior Max Goldenberg totaled two wins in individual events. Goldenberg won the 200 IM at 1:58.50 and the 100 fly at 50.85. The 200 free relay team that won (1:25.33) was contributed by Alex Patti, Keagan Casey, Collin Hanlon and Glenn Lasco.
The junior Lasco registered quite the day for himself, as not only was he a member of the winning 200 free relay team, he also recorded three second-place finishes in individual events. In the 200 free, Lasco's time of 1:45.25 was good enough for second. Lasco also tabbed a second in the 50 free at 21.25 and the 100 free at 46.91.
Connor Sept finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.16. Sept then recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100 breast at 1:01.00. Casey, the first-year swimmer for Lehigh, tallied a second in the 1000 free at 10:06.33. The senior Feryo finished second on the 200 back at 1:57.99. Another impressive first-year swimmer, Casey, also nailed a second-place finish in the 500 free at 4:52.06.
In the 200 fly, Connor Drucis ended up third with a time of 1:59.37. Then in the 200 medley relay, the Lehigh group of Caleb Eberly, Goldenberg, Feryo and Sept finished third with a time of 1:36.44.
Up next, Lehigh will return to Jacobs Pool next Saturday for a virtual meet with the Colgate Raiders.
