Lehigh drops first meet of the year at Drexel

PHILADELPHIA – The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team picked up four first place finishes, but were defeated 195-105 by Drexel Saturday morning at Daskalakis Athletic Center Pool. The Mountain Hawks (4-1) drop their first meet of the season and see a four-meet win streak snapped by the Dragons (2-1) heading into nearly a month off for finals and winter break.
Fifth year senior Ann Foley and junior Sarah Hardy both swam to two first place finishes in their respective events.
Foley's first win came in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.74, nearly three seconds faster than Drexel's second place finisher. She also swam to a time of 51.59 in the 100-yard freestyle, good for a second first place finish of the morning for the Mountain Hawks. In addition to her two wins, Foley also tallied a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.80.
Hardy won the 100-yard butterfly with her victorious time of 56.82, while also coming out on top in the 200-yard individual medley in which Liz Olszewski came in third place with a mark of 2:11.94.
In the relays, the women picked up a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay as the tandem of Foley, Noel Fresa, Grace Rogowski and Maddie Dorish swam a 1:38.97.
All-in-all, it was a tough day for the Lehigh divers, as Emma Camp finished fifth in the one-meter with a score of 225.83. Sarah Gill finished sixth (210.98). In the three-meters, Gill came in fourth at 232.50 and Camp finished sixth (226.20).
Lehigh returns to action at Jacobs Pool on Jan. 22 vs. Bucknell.
