BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a historic career, Lehigh field hockey graduate student Lenke Havas was named to the 2021 NFHCA Division I Senior Team, as announced on Monday. The 2021 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Havas finished her career as a five-time All-League honoree, including a four-time All-Patriot League member. No other student-athlete in program history has been All-League more than three times.

Havas is the first Lehigh field hockey player named to a NFHCA Senior Team since Christy Smith in 2007, who is currently serving as a member of LUFH's alumnae leadership council.

Along with helping anchor the defense as a defensive midfielder, Havas was one of the Patriot League's best offensive players in 2021 as well. She finished tied for third in the league in points with 27 behind 11 goals and five assists. The 11 goals are tied for fifth in program history. She was named both Patriot League Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week this past season. She had a goal and two assists in Lehigh's big 3-2 overtime win over Lafayette, and recorded a hat trick in an early-season win over Longwood (and multiple goals in two other contests). Defensively, the Mountain Hawks finished third in the Patriot League in goals against average (1.83). Havas is a two-time All-Region honoree, garnering first-team laurels last spring.

Havas finished her career with 26 goals and 21 assists for 73 points. The assist total is tied for the program record while the 73 points are third and 26 goals tied for third. As a first-year, Havas recorded four points (one goal, two assists) then had 21 points as a sophomore (six goals, program-record tying nine assists), 15 as a junior (five goals, five assists) and six in the shortened spring, 2021 season (three goals).

A game captain in the fall, Havas played an integral role throughout her career in the rise of Lehigh field hockey, which culminated this season with the program's best season since 1994. The Mountain Hawks finished 11-7, good for their most wins and first winning overall record in 27 years. With its 4-2 Patriot League record, Lehigh advanced to the league tournament for the first time since 2012 where it dropped a tight 1-0 final at top seed American in a game that went down to the wire. The Eagles had scored 15 goals their previous four contests, but were contained by a strong Lehigh D.

The 2021 season will go down as Lehigh field hockey's strongest in nearly 30 years and one of the best in program history. The Mountain Hawks secured the program's first winning regular season and overall mark since 1994, while the four Patriot League victories were most since 1996 and most since the league expanded to seven teams with the addition of Boston University.
