Lehigh hosts Army Friday, Colgate Saturday for Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The opportunities to catch Lehigh volleyball at Grace Hall are running out as the Mountain Hawks host Army West Point (6 p.m.) Friday and Colgate (2 p.m.) on Saturday for Senior Day in two of the final three home matches of the 2021 season.
 
The Mountain Hawks (6-13, 2-7 PL) are struggling as of late, having dropped their last three matches, including a pair to American with a 3-1 loss on Saturday in Washington, D.C. Lehigh is just 1-6 on the road this season, including 0-6 in Patriot League play, having gone 5-4 on its home floor.
 
Lehigh took the first set, 25-22 against the Eagles on Saturday before dropping the next three. Sabrina Lancaster and Megan Schulte led the way with 10 kills each, while Emily Stewart added nine with five blocks. Makena Smith finished with 25 assists while Kyleigh Brown added 17 digs and the Mountain Hawks hit .147 as a squad.
 
Schulte continues to lead her teammates with 222 kills on the year, averaging 3.00 kills per set. Makena Smith is one assist shy of 600 for her rookie season with 599, averaging 8.68 per set. Brown has a team-high 231 digs, with Ally Thaw just narrowly behind with 209. Stewart's 79 total blocks are a team-best with Sophia Meagher in second with 52 and Schulte at 43.
 
Army West Point dropped its previous outing, but are 12-6 overall with a 6-3 record in Patriot League matchups. The Black Knights are coming off a 3-1 loss on Saturday at the hands of Lafayette after two straight wins over Lafayette and American.
 
Paige Fixemer leads Army with 199 kills and 71 blocks, Diana Etheridge has 659 assists and Sayler Butters has registered 334 digs.
 
The Black Knights lead the all-time series over Lehigh, 43-16 and got the victory in five sets earlier this season in West Point. Army has won four straight meetings including nine of the last 10.
 
Colgate is on a roll, winning each of its last six matches, all against Patriot League opponents. The Raiders (11-7, 8-1 PL) are coming off two consecutive victories over Bucknell and decisive wins over frontrunners Loyola Maryland and Army West Point.
 
The last time out against the Bison, head coach Ryan Baker picked up his 250th career win.
 
Libby Overmyer is the Raiders' leader in kills with 187 this season, while fifth year Alli Lowe has 136. Julia Kurowski has a team-best 573 assists, Taylor Cigna with 146 digs and Sophie Thompson has been dominant at the net, accumulating 86 total blocks.
 
Colgate holds a 46-19 all-time record vs. the Mountain Hawks, earning eight consecutive victories including a 3-0 sweep to open the Patriot League slate on Sept. 17 in Hamilton.
 
Saturday's Senior Day matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required). The team will honor seniors Alina Lam, Ava Hudson, Victoria Jepson and Sarah Carman as well as fifth-year seniors Hannah Wright and Sabrina Lancaster with a special pre-match ceremony.
