BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After more than 30 years, the Lehigh women's basketball team is heading back to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall for one night only, taking on East Stroudsburg for 'Throwback Night' Nov. 9 in the historic venue, now the home of Lehigh wrestling and volleyball. The first game of the season against the Warriors is presented by Lehigh University's College of Business MS in Management Program.WBB In Grace

The Mountain Hawks used Grace Hall as their primary home from the program's inaugural season in 1974-75 all the way to 1989-90, when the team moved to Stabler Arena permanently at the start of the 1990-91 season.

A litany of some of the women's basketball program's all-time greats – Shawn Steward, Ellen Silver, Liz Feeley, Sherie Androlewicz and current WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert – made their names on the court at Grace Hall, in the days of Basketball Hall of Famer Muffet McGraw coaching at Lehigh.

"We're excited for the opportunity to play a 'throwback' game in Grace Hall to kick off our season opener," said head coach Sue Troyan. "In a year where Lehigh is celebrating 50 years of women, it's a timely opportunity to play in a venue where women's basketball started at Lehigh.

"We're hoping to educate and familiarize our freshmen and sophomore student body around the game-time atmosphere of Lehigh Basketball with the hopes that they will continue to support both programs as our season begins in November with games at Stabler."

Single game tickets for the remainder of the season, as well as individual game tickets for Men's Basketball, will go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 10:00 a.m.

Looking to repeat as Patriot League Champions after an historic 2020-21 season, the Mountain Hawks were selected as the league's preseason No. 1 team led by Preseason All-League selection Frannie Hottinger, senior Emma Grothaus and an abundance of returning players from last year's title run.
