Eleven Mountain Hawks named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Amidst an atypical spring semester, the Lehigh men's basketball team stepped up and shined in the classroom with 11 student-athletes being named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Monday. The 11 honorees shattered the previous high in Brett Reed's 13-year tenure as Lehigh head coach, which was seven set last season. The 11 honorees were tied for second most in the league.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.

Leading the way in the classroom was freshman Jake Betlow, who tallied a 3.96 GPA in the College of Business. He was followed by senior Jack Lieb (3.90, finance), senior David Roelke (3.85, political science), freshman Andrei Arion (3.82, bioengineering) and senior Jordan Cohen (3.70, finance).

Lehigh has enjoyed impressive success in the classroom, especially as of late. In the fall, the Mountain Hawks posted a team GPA of 3.2, with nine individuals recording a GPA of 3.37 or higher. The team cumulative GPA in the spring semester was 3.53. Individually, Cohen was named Academic All-District for a second straight season as the first two-time honoree in program history. He was also named Academic All-Patriot League for a third straight year, becoming just the seventh three-time honoree in league history.

On the court, the Mountain Hawks fought through some early struggles in 2019-20, but never quit and finished the season 6-3 over their final nine games. It included wins over three of the four eventual Patriot League semifinal teams, as the future looks bright for Lehigh men's basketball.
