BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a decorated career on and off the field, Lehigh field hockey's Amanda Boyer picked up one of her most prestigious awards to date on Thursday, earning CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large honors. Just the second CoSIDA honoree in program history (along with Christy Smith in 2007), Boyer is one of just six Division I field hockey players recognized as Academic All-District this year.

In the classroom, Boyer was named Academic All-Patriot League all three years she was eligible (as a sophomore, junior and senior). Boyer embodied an all-around student-athlete, owning a 3.98 cumulative grade point average (entering the spring semester) in Molecular Biology, while helping lead the field hockey program's growth on the field.

Also an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction in her career, Boyer posted a perfect 4.0 term almost every semester and was named to the Dean's List every semester. A Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every year, Boyer also garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award and has been named the team's Scholar-Athlete of the Year multiple times. Over last summer, she interned at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in the cancer institute. Her lab researched if exercise during chemotherapy accelerates the rate at which breast tumors shrink. Boyer will be attending the University of Maryland Medical School next year as she pursues her goals as a genetic counselor.

Boyer has also been a key contributor for the Mountain Hawks on the field over her four years. Lehigh's lone senior and team leader who helped the Mountain Hawks to a 5-1 start (best start since 1983) and finish with seven wins (the program's highest win total since 2007), Boyer posted four points on the season – dishing assists in wins over Towson and Wagner while scoring a goal at La Salle.

Highlights were aplenty for the Mountain Hawks in 2019. Lehigh improved its final record to 7-11, including 2-4 in league play. The Mountain Hawks finished in a three-way tie for fourth place (with Holy Cross and Boston University), but the Crusaders won the tiebreaker. Fourth was Lehigh's best finish since the expansion of the Patriot League to seven teams (with the addition of Boston University). Along with their best start since 1983 and best overall record since 2007, the Mountain Hawks' 35 goals were also their most since 2007 while their 43 goals allowed were fewest since 2003. Lehigh's goal differential (-8) was also its best since 2004.
