
Mountain Hawks set for Benbow Invitational beginning Monday in Florida

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After opening the spring season in Las Vegas last month, the Lehigh women's golf team heads to Florida for its second spring tournament as the Mountain Hawks will play in Butler's Benbow Invitational, Monday and Tuesday at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
The Mountain Hawks will be one of 14 teams competing on the 6,071-yard, par-71 course. The Benbow Invitational will feature 36 holes, with 18 each day. A shotgun start is set for 9 a.m. on both days.
The field includes Austin Peay, Coastal Georgia, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, Quinnipiac, Purdue Fort Wayne, Radford, Savannah State, St. John's, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Youngstown State, along with Lehigh and host Butler.
Lehigh played in the Benbow Invitational two years ago, finishing fourth out of 10 teams.
The Mountain Hawks opened the spring at the Battle at Boulder Creek near Las Vegas. Freshman Hannah Foster led the way for the Mountain Hawks with a 10th place individual finish. Foster will play in Lehigh's No. 1 position at the Benbow Invitational, followed by senior Minuette Laessig, junior Angela Ding, freshman Iris Shin and senior Rebecca Markunas. Freshman Marina Mendez will compete as an individual.
Next up after the Benbow Invitational will be William & Mary's Kingsmill Intercollegiate, March 30-31 in Williamsburg, Va.
