"This a great opportunity and challenge for us," head coach Matt Utesch said. "We're nearing the home stretch now. We need to put up some really good marks. The league is solid this year. We need to maintain our intensity and put together a great meet."
So far this season, Lehigh has had many bright spots. The sprinting group has caught the eyes of all the coaches, and the distance runners provided sparks in several competitions. What group is next?
"I really believe we'll see some big changes from the jumpers this week, possibly even the throwers as well," Utesch said. Our young kids have a real opportunity to set up on Friday."
"Ian Scott, we've talked about him before. He's ready to get at competing at the top level. Samuel Tapera is ready to explode. He's been battling toe-and-toe with Zach DeLone in the sprints. He's ready to have a couple of good races. Kerem Ayhan and Cole Lavalle are ready to burst onto the scene. Jumpers Brittann Pierce and Christian O'Neal are two guys that have a great chance to take it up a notch."
Up next, Lehigh will compete in the Monmouth Winter College Invite. This two-day event will begin on Friday, February 14, concluding the next day on Saturday.
