
Men's Tennis dominates Duquesne to snap three-game skid

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After the previous weekend of dropping two close matches, the Lehigh men's tennis team returned home to the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center and defeated the Duquesne Dukes, 7-0, snapping a three-game skid.
Lehigh (3-3) won eight of the nine matches that took place on Saturday evening. In doubles, the Brown and White took the point after Zack Elliott and Harry Wang defeated the top Duquense pair, 6-3. At the No. 2 spot, Gary Fishkin and Jacob Edelchik also defeated their opponents by a score of 6-3.
After winning the doubles point, the Mountain Hawks amped up their play and took it to the Dukes, winning all six singles matches. The reigning Patriot League Player of the Week defeated Alex Mascioli at the top spot to start the charge. Elliott won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. At the No. 4 spot, Edelchik completely dominated Graham Conron in straight sets, 7-1, 6-0.
At the No. 2 spot, Harry Wang showed his resilience and showed he can perform under stress, as the junior fought a back-and-forth battle with Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal in a classic three-setter, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6. At the No. 3 spot, the sophomore Fishkin took his match in straight sets as well, 6-3, 6-4.
Rounding out singles play for Lehigh, Jack Martin-Dyer and Jeremy Learner secured victories to make it clean sweep in singles for the Mountain Hawks.
Up next, The Mountain Hawks will take a short break and rest their bodies, as they will embark on their next road trip in two weeks. Lehigh will be traveling down to Orlando for three matches against James Madison, Bentley and Case Western. The start of those three matches will be March 8.
