Parker Boyd named to Academic All-Patriot League team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, Lehigh pitcher Parker Boyd has earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League team, which the league announced Wednesday. In addition to being a key pitcher for the Mountain Hawks throughout the season, the junior is one of the team's top performers in the classroom.
The Academic All-Patriot League teams are voted on by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Boyd owns a 3.68 GPA as a psychology major. In addition to her Academic All-League honor from last year, Boyd is a two-year member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She has made the Lehigh Dean's List, with a GPA of 3.6 or better, in four of her first five semesters on campus. Boyd has also been recognized on the NFCA All-Academic Team following her freshman campaign.
On the field, the Battle Ground, Wash., native was a second team All-Patriot League honoree in 2018. This season, Boyd has thrown a team-high 147 innings in the circle, going 12-11 with a 3.33 ERA and 133 strikeouts. She leads Lehigh in wins, ERA and strikeouts. Boyd went 4-4 during the Patriot League season, highlighted by a 1-0, one-hit shutout of Boston University on April 7.
Lafayette senior shortstop Brooke Wensel was voted Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball by the league's sports information directors.
Lehigh (25-26, 11-7 PL) enters the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 Bucknell Thursday in an opening round game at the BU Softball Field in Boston. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. with video coverage on the Patriot League Network.
