Freshmen Jaelynn Chesson and Addie Kittel led the Lehigh offense with four hits apiece over the two games. All four of Chesson's hits were doubles, while Kittel drove in a team-best three runs over the two games.
In game one, Lehigh took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. Freshman Carley Barjaktarovich manufactured a run, reaching on an error, stealing second base and moving to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a throwing error. With two outs, Chesson doubled to left center and Kittel followed with a single up the middle to score Chesson and put Lehigh up by two.
Saint Joseph's (15-15) pulled a run back on a Sarah Ostaszewski RBI double in the third, but the Mountain Hawks responded with two of their own in the home half of the inning. Barjaktarovich led off with a bunt single and scored on a single up the middle by Kittel. Junior Mary-Hannah Smith then scored on a throwing error following a stolen base attempt, to put Lehigh up 4-1 after three innings.
Freshman Melissa Fedorka extended Lehigh's lead with a solo home run to left that was tucked just inside the foul pole with two outs in the fourth. The Mountain Hawks added a sixth run in the fifth when sophomore Payton Alsobrooks led off with a single and scored on a double down the left field line by Chesson.

Junior Parker Boyd started in the circle and earned her sixth victory of the season, allowing a run on seven hits over seven innings, with one walk and eight strikeouts.
Lehigh took a 2-0 early in game two when Chesson led off the bottom of the second with a double and scored on a passed ball. Kittel followed Chesson with a single and pinch runner Ashley Rabago scored on a ground out by Fedorka.
Saint Joseph's came back to take the lead with three runs in the top of the third on a Molly Kapala sacrifice fly and a Caela Abadie two run double.
The Mountain Hawks answered with three runs of their own to go up 5-3 after three. Junior Emily Preble and Barjaktarovich started the frame with back-to-back singles. After a sacrifice bunt, Smith doubled to left center, scoring two to give Lehigh a 4-3 lead. Two batters later Kittel delivered her third RBI single of the day to plate Smith.

Kapala brought Saint Joseph's within one with a RBI single in the fifth. The Hawks then took the lead with two runs in the seventh. Ostaszewski drilled a one out double and came around to score the tying run when sophomore Lainey Stephenson couldn't come up with Kapala's fly ball to right. Abadie followed with a single up the middle to put Saint Joseph's ahead.
Lehigh put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the eighth, with freshman Karsen O'Rourke singling, Smith reaching on a throwing error and Stephenson working a walk to load the bases. Chelsea Evans got Kittel to hit a pop up on the infield with Stacey Mayer battling strong winds to make the catch and end the game.
Freshman Gabriella Nori allowed six runs over seven innings but only two were earned. She allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out eight.
O'Rourke, Smith, Chesson and Kittel all had two hits in the nightcap.
"We were pleased with the first game," Lehigh head coach Fran Troyan said. "We played a pretty clean game. In game two we didn't catch the ball or throw the ball. Because of some injuries in the outfield we're putting kids in positions where they're not real comfortable right now. We just have to try and get them better."
Lehigh moves to 11-19 with Wednesday's split.
The Mountain Hawks will now close out their 10-game home stand with three games against defending Patriot League champion Boston University. Lehigh and BU will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon and a single game Sunday at noon at Leadership Park with all three games being broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
