Lehigh men complete busy three-meet weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The men's track and field team competed in three meets this past weekend, traveling to The University of Virginia, Moravian College and Princeton University for a busy weekend of competition. Six Mountain Hawks set personal records throughout the weekend.

At the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia, junior Joey Kelly finished sixth overall in the pole vault, earning a mark of 4.97m. Kelly's finish of 4.97m earned him a personal record in the event.

Senior Ryan Givens finished in a tie for ninth place in the high jump, earning a mark of 1.88m.

At the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian College, senior Clay Stabolepszy finished third overall in the 800m, earning a time of 1:55.70. In the 1500m, freshman Ethan Koza finished ninth overall with a time of 4:09.97, good for a personal record.

In the finals of the 110m hurdles, freshman Michael Nardelli finished third overall with a time of 15.47 after finishing fifth in the preliminary round. Nardelli also finished third overall in the 400m hurdles, earning a time of 55.53, which is a personal record.

In the 3000m steeplechase, freshman Avery Lederer earned a personal record, finishing third overall with a time of 9:39.40.

In the field events, senior Max Jordan finished second overall in the pole vault, earning a mark of 4.41m. In the shot put, senior Alexander Rodgers finished fifth overall with a mark of 13.93m.

Sophomore Riley LaRiviere finished ninth overall in the discus with a mark of 40.44m. Rodgers finished 11th in the discus with a 39.17m mark. LaRiviere finished fourth overall in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.03m.

At the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University, sophomore Sean Brown finished 11th overall in the 1500m elite race, earning a time of 3:46.80, earning a personal record. Freshman Kyle Burke finished third overall in the 1500m unseeded race with a time of 3:55.76, also earning a personal record.

In the 3000m steeplechase, junior Kip Yegon finished fifth overall with a time of 9:02.33. Sophomore Evan El-Halawani finished 10th overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.40.
