Lehigh welcomes Stony Brook for non-league doubleheader Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh is off from Patriot League play this weekend but the Mountain Hawks still be active, as the Mountain Hawks will play their final two home games of the regular season when Stony Brook visits Leadership Park Saturday for a non-league doubleheader.
The start time for Saturday's twin bill has been moved back to its original time of 1 p.m.
Lehigh has won its last four non-league contests, sweeping doubleheaders at Rider on April 10 and at Princeton on Wednesday to move to 17-23 overall on the season. At 5-7 in Patriot League play, Lehigh will let the other six league schools battle it out this weekend with three weekends left in the regular season.
In Wednesday's doubleheader sweep at Princeton, the senior class led the way with Ashley Rabago and Jennifer Stoll both totaling four hits on the day. Junior Mary-Hannah Smith added six RBIs, driving in four in Lehigh's 12-1, five-inning win in the opener and then hitting a two-run home run that proved to be the difference in a 4-2 win in the nightcap.
Smith is one of three Mountain Hawks riding a seven-game hitting streak with junior Lexi van Ooyen and freshman Carley Barjaktarovich the others.
Four Mountain Hawks are hitting over .300 this season. Freshman Jaelynn Chesson leads Lehigh at .388, while Smith is at .369. Rabago and van Ooyen have less than half as many at bats as Chesson and Smith and are hitting .347 and .345, respectively. Chesson leads with four home runs and 21 RBIs, but with six RBIs on Wednesday, Smith is up to 20.
In the circle, junior Parker Boyd allowed two earned runs in seven innings over the two games at Princeton, earning a win and a save for her efforts. She is 9-9 with a 3.23 ERA and 104 strikeouts. Freshman Gabriella Nori earned the win in game two Wednesday allowing a run over five innings. She is now 7-11 with a 3.90 ERA and 103 strikeouts.
Stony Brook stands at 21-14 and won both of its midweek games this week, blanking Seton Hall 6-0 on Tuesday and LIU Brooklyn 4-1 on Wednesday. The Seawolves are 6-5 in America East action.
Offensively, Stony Brook has a .299 team average and has hit 31 home runs. Katelyn Corr leads with a .415 average, while Melissa Rarich has been a force at the plate and in the circle. Rarich is batting.402 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs and is also the Seawolves' top pitcher, logging 127.2 innings and going 10-10 with a 2.69 ERA. Shelbi Denman owns a 2.30 ERA and 8-3 record over 61 innings.
Lehigh and Stony Brook have faced two common opponents this season. Both teams are 2-0 versus UMBC, and have also faced Seton Hall, with Lehigh splitting a doubleheader and Stony Brook winning a single game.
The Mountain Hawks won all four previous meetings against Stony Brook with the most recent win coming by a 6-5 score in March 2006 in Georgetown, Del.
Next week, Lehigh will play a non-league doubleheader at Seton Hall on Wednesday before resuming league play with three games at Holy Cross April 27-28.
