Mountain Hawks fall at Temple in final non-league match

PHILADELPHIA – Taking on its second Philadelphia-area opponent of the weekend, Lehigh dropped a 7-0 final to Temple Sunday morning at TU Pavilion. The Owls captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, then swept six singles matches to top the Mountain Hawks, who were playing their final non-league match of the regular season.
Lehigh falls to 8-6 on the season. Temple improves to 8-6.
The Owls posted straight-set victories at the bottom two flights and then clinched the match at No. 3 as Mark Wallner topped senior Bryant Born 6-2, 6-3.
The top two singles flights were competitive, with sophomore Harry Wang winning the second set from Alberto Caceres Casas before losing his match in a 10-point tiebreak. Freshman Zack Elliott fell to Paulo Cucalon in straight sets at No. 2 but the sets were 7-6, 7-6.
Lehigh will return to the courts next Sunday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Colgate for a 2 p.m. match.
