Mountain Hawks set sights on six games in Phoenix after loss to No. 17 Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – Lehigh reached the halfway point of its spring break trip and closed out its six-game stay in Tempe with a 14-0, five-inning loss to No. 17 Arizona State Tuesday at Farrington Stadium. The Sun Devils capitalized on four Lehigh errors and scored three or more runs in each of their four times at bat.
Sophomore Allyson Dibsie delivered the lone hit for Lehigh, singling to lead off the fifth inning as the Mountain Hawks fall to 6-7 on the season.
Abby Andersen faced just one batter over the minimum, striking out four in the five-inning one-hitter for Arizona State as the Sun Devils improve to 20-7.
Kindra Hackbarth went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored out of the leadoff spot while sister Maddi drove in a team-best three runs.
Arizona State scored four runs in the first on two bases loaded walk and two Lehigh errors. The Sun Devils added four in the second and three in both the third and fourth innings. Kindra Hackbarth hit a two-run home run in the third while Morgan Howe added an inside the park home run.
Sophomore Lainey Stephenson started for Lehigh in the circle in her home state and took the loss, allowing eight runs (three earned) on five hits in two innings with three walks and a strikeout. Senior Emily Sorem pitched the final two innings allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.
The Mountain Hawks will move from Tempe to Phoenix for the final six games of their trip, beginning with a Wednesday doubleheader at Grand Canyon. First pitch for game one is set for 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. MST from GCU Softball Stadium. The doubleheader will be broadcast on GCU.tv.
