BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior guard Hannah Hedstrom was recognized on Thursday for her success not only on the court but also in the classroom, as she was named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 Team.
To be eligible, a player must have a 3.30 GPA and played in 50 percent of the team's games on the season.
Hedstrom is just one of two players from the Patriot League to be named to the All-District team, as she joins Elina Koskimies of American University.
This accomplishment follows in the latest of academic awards, with Hedstrom being named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll the past two seasons along with being named to the ECAC President's Honor Roll and earning the women's basketball Scholar-Athlete Award last season.
A three-year starter for the Mountain Hawks, the Minnetonka, Minn. native and biology major holds a cumulative GPA of 3.96.
One of Lehigh's leaders this year, Hedstrom has been a constant presence on the court this season, starting all 25 games this season.
Hedstrom also becomes the first Mountain Hawk to make Academic All-District team since Lexi Martins was named back in 2016.
"Hannah is well deserving of this honor as a basketball player who embodies all that we ask of our student-athletes at Lehigh. Hannah is one of the top academic performers in a highly rigorous pre-med curriculum; she has been our starting point guard for three seasons, setting the competitive tone for how our team plays; and she is a team leader who has shown significant growth with her personal leadership development," said head coach Sue Troyan.
