Mountain Hawks picked seventh in preseason Patriot League poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League preseason poll was announced on Wednesday, which saw the Lehigh men's basketball team come in seventh place with 84 points. A jumble of teams saw the Mountain Hawks just 14 points behind fourth-place Loyola and 29 points ahead of eight-place Lafayette. The preseason All-League team and preseason Patriot League Player of the Year were also announced on Wednesday.

Voting for the preseason poll, Player of the Year and five-member All-Patriot League team was completed by the Patriot League men's basketball coaches and sports information directors. They could not vote for their own team or student-athletes.

The Mountain Hawks lose several key players from last year's team, which finished third in the league standings with a 12-6 Patriot League mark (20-11 overall). Lehigh still returns a lot of talent as well, highlighted by senior and 2018 third team All-Patriot League honoree Jordan Cohen. Junior James Karnik also returns after tallying 11.4 points and 6.6 boards per contest in league play last year. Junior Marques Wilson, and sophomores Jeameril Wilson and Nic Lynch, also return after enjoying success over the course of their careers, along with senior Ed Porter. The Mountain Hawks welcome six freshmen to the 2019-20 squad.

Lehigh opens its season in less than three weeks, hosting Monmouth on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. Season and single-game tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here.
