Hammerstone Gets First Collegiate Win As Lehigh Outruns Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh women's cross country squad easily handled the Leopards of Lafayette, as the Mountain Hawks won the annual dual meet 17-45 in Easton this year.
With the victory, Lehigh moves to 21-8 all-time since 1990 and has been victorious every year since 2003.
"We really wanted to focus on setting up the team in packs, and we went out a bit more conservatively and worked on running together," said head coach Debbie Utesch after the win.
Placing first overall for the Mountain Hawks was Diana Hammerstone, who earned her first collegiate cross country win of her career. Hammerstone set the pace with a final time of 22:51.83. Along with Hammerstone, Lehigh captured second and third place with Ashleigh Crawford finishing with a time of 23:10.68 and Maura Henderson coming away with a time of 23:12.58.
Among the top-10 finishers, Lehigh took eight of the 10 spots, with four of the top-five times belonging to Mountain Hawks.
Up next is a trip to Boston, Mass. For the Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown hosted by Boston College on Friday, September 21.
