DURHAM, N.C. – North Dakota State scored five runs over its final three at bats to rally for a 6-2 win over Lehigh Sunday in the final game for both teams at the Duke Inaugural Tournament. Freshman Payton Alsobrooks' first career hit, a two-run double in the fourth inning, gave the Mountain Hawks a 2-1 lead but the defending Summit League champions tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, took the lead in the fifth before adding three insurance runs in the sixth.
Lehigh finishes with a 1-3 mark in the Duke Inaugural Tournament and falls to 2-7 overall in 2018.
Down 2-1, a walk to sophomore Reva Alderman and a single by freshman Allyson Dibsie put two runners on for Alsobrooks, who doubled to right center to give Lehigh the lead.
North Dakota State (9-5) tied the game on a bases loaded walk to Katie Schoultz in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth on a Lehigh throwing error.
Maddie Hansen's three-run bases-clearing double accounted for the Bison's final three runs.
Lehigh mustered just five hits against Bison pitching. KK Leddy went the first 4.2 before giving way to Jacquelyn Sertec, who retired all seven batters she faced to earn the win in relief.
Sophomore Parker Boyd started for Lehigh and took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits. She struck out four but was hurt by nine walks as she falls to 1-4.
Next up for the Mountain Hawks will be the Under Armour Showcase, hosted by USF, March 10-11 in Tampa, Fla. Lehigh will open with Seton Hall (2 p.m.) and Central Michigan (4:15 p.m.) on Saturday March 10.
