Â
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Enjoying impressive success both in the classroom and on the court, Lehigh men's basketball sophomores Pat Andree and Jordan Cohen have been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced on Wednesday. Andree and Cohen are two of just five student-athletes across the league named to the team. It marks the first time in school history that the Mountain Hawks have featured multiple Academic All-League honorees.
Â
Lehigh's last Academic All-Patriot team member was Gabe Knutson, who received the honor in three consecutive seasons between 2010 and 2013. Andree and Cohen are joined by Lafayette's Eric Stafford and Bucknell's Stephen Brown and Nana Foulland on this year's Academic All-League team.
Â
Andree currently owns a 3.48 cumulative grade point average in Psychology, which included a 3.59 GPA this past fall. The Colts Neck, N.J. native was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll following his freshman season and has been named to the Faculty Athletics Council Award for semester GPAs over 3.2. On the court, Andree is third on the Mountain Hawks in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game, and is second in rebounding (5.9). Those totals are good for 17th and eighth in the Patriot League, respectively. He stands second on Lehigh and third in the Patriot League in three-point percentage (42.9 percent). In league games, he's even better, averaging 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and shooting 48.7 percent from distance. Among Andree's highlight games was a 24-point effort vs. Colgate, 24 points in an overtime win over Bucknell and 23 points in a convincing victory over Army West Point. Andree has three double-doubles this season, at Lafayette, at Colgate and at Loyola, posting double-figure points in 20 games, including 16 of his last 19 contests.
Â
Meanwhile, Cohen owns a 3.67 cumulative GPA in the Business School, which included a 3.74 GPA this past fall. The Tarzana, Calif. native has been named to the Dean's List following each of the past two fall semesters for semester GPAs of 3.6 or higher. He was also named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll while garnering the Faculty Athletics Council Award as well. On the court, Cohen is averaging career highs in scoring (9.0 points per game) and rebounding (3.6), with both marks even higher in Patriot League play (9.6 and 4.3, respectively). Cohen is third on the Mountain Hawks in assists this season (71) while he's shooting a team-best 90.2 percent from the free throw line (46-of-51), along with 47.7 percent from the field (21-of-64). Cohen has reached double-figure points in five of the last seven games he's played, including a career-high 21 points in an overtime win over Bucknell. He's scored double-figure points on 12 occasions during his sophomore campaign.
Â
The Mountain Hawks are riding an eight-game winning streak to finish the regular season tied for third place in the league standings. Lehigh will host Boston University on Thursday evening (Mar. 1) in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. It marks the Mountain Hawks' fourth straight season hosting a quarterfinal contest, and eighth time in the last nine years. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Stabler Arena.
