BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a strong season featuring six meets stretching from University Park, Pa. to Boston, Mass. the Lehigh women's cross country team will set its sights on the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 27 in Lewisburg, Pa.
The Mid-Atlantic region will be strongly represented in the championship, as Lehigh (13), Navy (9) and Bucknell (8) are all ranked. No schools featured in the Northeast region are currently ranked.
Lehigh is no stranger to Bucknell's course, as they've already competed on it once before on August 31 as part of the Bison Open to begin the year.
Junior Diana Hammerstone has been the backbone of this year's Mountain Hawk squad, placing first among Lehigh runners four times this season. Fellow juniors Sydney Brannon and Hannah Bonaguidi have been the other Lehigh runners to do so.
In last year's championship, Lehigh saw senior Maura Henderson finish eighth overall with a time of 21:36.7 as the Mountain Hawks finished fourth as a team.
Bucknell has hosted the Patriot League Championship three previous time, with the Bison playing host in 1994,1998 and 2004.
The Mountain Hawks have claimed victory once before, as they took first place in 1992.
The women's race is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
