Lehigh Prepares for Penn State National Open And Lafayette Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's cross country team travels to Penn State this week to compete in the National Open in University Park, Pa. after taking a needed week off. Before the off week, the Mountain Hawks had competed in a race for three weeks straight, with Lehigh competing in the Lafayette Dual Meet, Coast-To-Coast Battle In Beantown and the Paul Short Run.
Along with the Penn State National Open, the Mountain Hawks will send a group of runners to compete in the Lafayette Invitational on Saturday, October 13.

With no new regional rankings out this week, Lehigh stays in the top-15 with a 13th place ranking in the Mid-Atlantic region. Bucknell leads all Patriot league schools with a 9th place ranking. Villanova maintains its top spot in the region.

In their last race, the Mountain Hawks placed 19th of 41 competing schools, where Junior Diana Hammerstone led the Mountain Hawks with a 70th place finish with a time of 21:57. Hannah Bonaguidi was next with a 91st place finish with a time of 22:10.

Last season the Mountain Hawks finished 14th overall at the Penn State National Open. Stacie Nadel was first to finish for Lehigh with a 65th place finish with a time of 21:43.
Competing in the Lafayette Invitational last season as well, Sydney Brannon led the way for a group of our Lehigh runners Brannon was the first Mountain Hawk to cross the finish line, finishing 10th overall in 24:36.8. Ginger Pojednic placed 13th in 24:47.4, Erin Tressler finished 18th (25:12.1) and senior Jennifer Burke came in 31st (25:41.8).
