BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team will culminate the season this Friday and Saturday as The University and the Goodman Campus Track and Field Complex will play host to the 2017 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The two-day event will commence on Friday morning at 9 a.m. with the men's 10K and run throughout the afternoon. Saturday will feature another full day of action starting at 10 a.m. Due to the impending inclement weather throughout the region, all high jump and pole vault events will take place inside Rauch Fieldhouse at their originally scheduled times. These are the only two events that can take place indoors and still have the marks be eligible for NCAA qualification. Campus Insiders will be broadcasting Saturday's events live online beginning at 11:50 a.m. A full meet schedule along with all links and information relevant to this weekend's championships can be found by clicking here.

Saturday will also feature a groundbreaking ceremony for Lehigh's new track and field building at the south end of the Goodman Campus Track. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. and feature Lehigh Hall of Fame track and cross country coach John Covert, Dean of Athletics Joe Sterrett and alumni.

The Mountain Hawks enter this weekend's competition holding top five marks in five different events in the Patriot League this season. Senior Lucas Warning holds the top throw in the shot put (18.72m) after setting a new school record at the Virginia Challenge. Sophomore Ryan Givens cleared 2.05 meters in the high jump at the Greyhound Invitational, which currently ranks him second in the league, and senior Daniel Reichenbach flew 7.26 meters in the long jump at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet, which is the league's fourth-best jump this season. Over on the track, sophomore Emre Soybas is coming off a new PR while winning the 400m dash at last weekend's Lehigh Games. His time of 48.33 ranks fifth in the league this season and earned him PL Track Athlete of the Week honors. Seniors Evan Hardy and Alexander Fitzgerald both rank in the league's top five in the 10K, with both running their times at the Raleigh Relays on March 25.

Junior multi Trevor Knowles has won the league decathlon title each of his first two years thus far, setting a new school and league record (7,001 points) with last year's win. At this year's indoor championships, he won the heptathlon for the third time in as many years, either winning or finishing runner-up in all seven events to break his own school record with 5,447 points. Warning picked up the first league championship of his career at this year's indoor championships (shot put-18.07m) as the Mountain Hawks placed fifth overall. Freshman Joe Espinal also notched a podium finish at indoors with a third place in the 500m dash.

"We're very excited to be hosting the Patriot League Championships," said head coach Matt Utesch. "Our team is really ready to go and I hope the weather holds off and we end up with a couple days of competition and sportsmanship."
