BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a month-long period of games on the road, including 12 games over spring break in Northern California, the Lehigh softball team will begin both its home and Patriot League schedule in a three-game series against defending champion Boston University this weekend at Leadership Park. The series will begin with a doubleheader Saturday, with first pitch for game one moved up to 10:30 a.m. due to the threat of inclement weather. Sunday's series finale is currently scheduled for noon.

Lehigh went 4-8 over the trip to California, including a 2-2 stint at the Santa Clara Round Robin. In the Stanford Easton Classic, which was the beginning of the team's trip, the Mountain Hawks went 1-4, losing to Cal Poly, Grand Canyon and Stanford twice before finishing the tournament on a high note with a 2-1 win in eight innings against UConn. Freshman Reva Alderman singled to center to drive in Katie Schultz for the winning run.

In the middle part of the trip, Lehigh lost 3-0 to a tough California team that was ranked No. 20/23 in the country. The team then lost to UMass before snagging a 3-2 win against Pacific the same day. In the Santa Clara Round Robin, Lehigh began the tournament with a win over Northwestern before dropping games to Santa Clara and Long Beach State. Finally, the Mountain Hawks got revenge against Grand Canyon from earlier in the week, winning 4-2 to cap off the California trip.

Nicole Yozzo leads Lehigh in batting average thus far, hitting .333 with six runs and a team-leading 18 hits. Yozzo hit .344 over the 12 games in California as well. Alderman leads the team in doubles (four) and RBIs (12). Senior Christine Campbell leads the way for the Mountain Hawks in the circle with a 2.27 ERA, 34 strikeouts and 20 walks. Freshman Parker Boyd struggled in her first of five appearances in California but bounced back with four solid outings. She is averaging more than one strikeout per inning with 31 strikeouts in 29.2 innings on the season.

Boston University won the Patriot League Championship last year and comes into the game with an 8-15 record. The Terriers have lost six of their last seven games, going 1-5 at the Long Beach State Tournament and then dropping their home opener 4-2 to Bryant on Thursday.  Moriah Connolly is leading the team with a .360 batting average. Gabi Martinez leads the team in RBIs with 16 and is second on the team with a .315 batting average.

In the circle, Kali Magane and Makinna Akers have thrown the most innings. BU is looking to replace two-time Patriot League Tournament MVP Melanie Russell. The Terriers own a 4.28 team ERA this season.

Lehigh is 5-7 against Boston all time. The teams split a doubleheader in Boston in the regular season, while the Terriers claimed a 6-2 win in the Patriot League Tournament.

All three games of the Lehigh-Boston U. series will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.

Following this series, Lehigh will have a doubleheader against Penn on Tuesday at Leadership Park with first pitch for game one set for 2:30 p.m.
