Lehigh Closes Out Regular Season at Holy Cross

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A week after securing a Patriot League postseason berth with a win over then league-leading Loyola, the Mountain Hawks will close out the regular season with a trip to Holy Cross on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network.

Lehigh (11-5-1, 5-2-1) is currently in third place of the Patriot League standings with 16 points, while Holy Cross (5-8-3, 3-3-2) sits in fifth with 11 points. The Mountain Hawks have secured a quarterfinal home game, but could still obtain a quarterfinal bye with a win on Saturday and a Loyola loss or tie. The Crusaders can secure a postseason berth with a win over Lehigh. They can also get in with a tie combined with a Colgate loss, in addition to getting help from Army or American and Lafayette. Holy Cross can also clinch the No. 4 seed and a quarterfinal home game with a win on Saturday combined with a Bucknell loss.

Three days after having their four-game Patriot League unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-1 loss to Bucknell last Wednesday, the Mountain Hawks bounced back in a big way with a convincing 4-2 victory over Loyola last Saturday. Lehigh held the Greyhounds scoreless for 79-straight minutes, while building up a comfortable 3-0 lead. Mark Forrest led the Brown and White with two goals on the night, both on penalty kicks, and dished out an assist. Doyle Tuvesson scored in the 58th minute and assisted on Bratislav Petkovic's game-winner in the 79th minute.

Holy Cross posted a 1-0-1 record last week in two league games with a 4-3 overtime win over Colgate last Wednesday and a 0-0 draw at Army last Saturday. The Crusaders erased an early 2-0 deficit and scored a season-high four goals, capped off by Arno Rupp's game-winner, in last week's win over Colgate. Five different Crusaders tallied a point in the overtime win. In the 0-0 draw at Army, Henry Stutz picked up his fourth shutout of the season. Stutz also recorded seven saves against Colgate, tying a career-high.

Lehigh's offense leads the Patriot League and ranks tied for 13th nationally with 2.06 goals per game and is tied for eighth nationally with 35 goals. The Brown and White are led by the nation's point leader, Forrest, who has accumulated 38 points on a league-leading 15 goals with eight assists. Tuvesson ranks second in the league with 20 total points and has accumulated the third-most assists in the nation with 10.

Holy Cross is sixth in the league in scoring with 1.00 goals per game average and is allowing 1.70 goals per game. Rupp paces the Crusaders with 15 points and ranks second in the league with seven goals.

The Crusaders are 4-4 at home this season and the Mountain Hawks are 5-2-1. Holy Cross owns a 12-11-6 advantage in the all-timer series and has won the last two meetings, including last season's matchup in Worcester, Mass.
