Men’s Track and Field Earns Two Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Lucas Warning and freshman distance runner Matt Kravitz have both been honored with weekly awards from the Patriot League. Warning has been named the Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, and Kravitz has been named the Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
Warning won the shot put at this weekend's John Covert Classic, with his toss of 17.99 meters coming in 2.17 meters ahead of the second place finisher. The mark is the second longest shot put in the Patriot League this season, trailing only his school record toss of 18.09m from the Angry Birds Challenge earlier this month. Warning holds the six furthest shot puts in the Patriot League this season and has won the event in four of his six meets, finishing runner-up in the other two. The weekly honor is the third of the year for Warning, the most individual awards of any male in the Patriot League.
Kravitz earned his second straight Rookie of the Week honor after running in a pair of races over the weekend. He finished second overall out of 18 in the mile run (4:09.73) at the Villanova Open on Friday, before coming back to Bethlehem to win the 1,000m run (2:31.46) at the Covert Classic on Saturday. His time in the mile ranks sixth in the Patriot League this season, and his 1,000m time comes in 12th.
Lehigh has now had at least one major weekly award winner in all six weeks of the season thus far, and at least two winners in five of the six weeks. Lehigh has won 14 weekly awards this season, eight on the men's side and six more from the women, which is the most in the league.
