BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team picked up three individual wins and four runner-up finishes on Saturday between the 25th Annual John Covert Classic at Rauch Fieldhouse and the Thundering Herd Invitational at Marshall University. Freshman Matt Kravitz, junior Christopher Mascetti and senior Lucas Warning all picked up wins, with senior Tom Troxell, freshman Ryan Paradise, freshman Victor Yegon and sophomore Ryan Givens all having runner-up performances.

Lehigh highlighted their day on the track at the Covert by sweeping the top three spots in the 1,000m run with Kravitz picking up his second individual win in as many weeks, winning on Saturday in 2:31.46. Paradise (PR-2:34.68) was not far behind in second place, and junior John Tolbert (2:34.79) finished the race in third. Lehigh landed four in the top five of the 12-person race with Mitchell Daddario (2:35.97) coming in fifth.

Mascetti picked up the win for Lehigh in the mile run with a new personal record time of 4:26.97, his second win in as many weeks. He was joined in the top five by Ryan Grace (4:29.23) who finished fifth out of the 43 runners that crossed the finish.

Lehigh had three runners place in the top-six of the 29-finisher 3,000m run, with Yegon (8:53.79) finishing second, followed by Henry Paul (8:55.82) in fourth and David Mugavero (8:58.74) setting a PR by over 19 seconds in sixth. In the 5,000m, Brian Arita (15:22.28) landed on the podium in third place overall.

Jake Sabatini ran the 60m dash and finished 14th, tying his PR of 7.25 seconds that he set at last weekend's Lafayette dual. Troxell (24.04) placed 20th in the 200m dash, and Tom Underwood (54.29) and Robert Iulo (54.58) led Lehigh in the 400m dash. Troxell also tied his season-best of 1:08.74 to take second place in the 500m dash, and in the 800m, James Chappell (2:01.14) led the Mountain Hawks ninth place out of 42.

In the field events, Warning dominated the shot put with a winning throw of 17.99 meters, a full 2.17 meters ahead of the second place finisher. It was the second furthest throw of his career and second furthest in the Patriot League this season, trailing only his school record of 18.09 meters from the Angry Birds Challenge earlier this month.

In the weight throw, Adam Freesman paced the Mountain Hawks in 10th place at 12.78m. Michael Gooding (13.76m) led the way for Lehigh in the triple jump by rounding out the top five, Daniel Boardman was 15th out of 40 in the long jump, and Max Jordan took sixth in the pole vault.

Down in West Virginia at the Thundering Herd Invitational, Givens finished second in the high jump (2.00m) and 12th in the long jump (6.29m), freshman Joey Kelly took fourth in the pole vault (4.40m), and Kyle Sult scored 3,954 points in the heptathlon to place 10th overall. Sult highlighted the event with a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles.

Lehigh's next meet will be next Friday-Saturday at the Armory Track Invitational in New York City, and the Villanova Invitational next Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex.
