Veterans start strong for Lehigh at Navy Fall Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – With veterans Elizabeth McGarrigle and Megan Moylan leading the way, the Lehigh women's golf team kicked off its fall season with round one of the Navy Fall Invitational Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks posted an opening round score of 312, good for fifth place in the 16-team field.

Lehigh's lone senior and a returning All-Patriot League selection, McGarrigle shot one over par 73 and sits in fourth place following the opening 18 holes. Moylan, a junior, was one stroke behind with an opening round 74 and is tied for fifth place.

Sophomores Reagan Jahn and Aileen Jeong carded an 82 and 83 respectively, with Jahn tied for 49th place and Jeong tied for 59th place.

Freshman Rebecca Markunas was listed as Lehigh's fifth scoring player but she failed to record a score.

Harvard leads the team race thanks to an opening round 304. Towson, Penn and Navy are all tied for second, six shots behind the Crimson and two ahead of the Mountain Hawks.

Individually, Sacred Heart's Ellen Nighbor and Wagner's Pascalle Tego share the 18-hole lead at one under par 71. Navy's Morgan Frazier is third at even par 72, with McGarrigle just two strokes off the lead.

The Navy Fall Invitational concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
