Carotenuto named unanimous preseason All-Patriot League honoree

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh field hockey sophomore Teresa Carotenuto was named a unanimous preseason All-Patriot League selection while the Mountain Hawks were predicted to finish sixth in the league, as announced on Tuesday. Carotenuto is coming off a sensational freshman campaign which saw her lead the team in goals (11) and points (22), which were both top 10 in the Patriot League.
Carotenuto was a unanimous first team All-League honoree at the end of last season and was named the Mountain Hawks' Athlete of the Year, as announced at the team's annual end-of-year banquet. The Macungie, Pa. native led Lehigh with three game-winning goals, recording four multi-goal games on the season, including a four-goal effort against Siena.
Boston University was predicted to win the Patriot League, garnering 69 points and nine first-place votes. American came in second with 64 points, followed by Lafayette (48), Bucknell (43), Holy Cross (31), Lehigh (26) and Colgate (13).
Deep into preseason practice, the Mountain Hawks are led by first-year head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer. Lehigh opens the regular season with two home games, vs. Rider this Friday (4 p.m.) and Monmouth on Sunday (12 p.m.).
