Knowles and Warning Named Academic All-Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field has team picked up a pair of awards from sophomore Trevor Knowles and junior Lucas Warning. Both were named Academic All-Patriot League, as announced by the league on Monday. The pair of reigning league champions are among the 11 student-athletes who were recognized by the league for their work on the track and in the classroom during the 2016 outdoor season.
Warning, a chemical engineering major with a 3.51 GPA, recorded his first league championship in the shot put at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships on May 7. Warning's throw of 17.37 meters earned him the title, which was the third furthest shot put in the league this season, trailing only his heaves of 17.45m at the Lehigh Games and 17.60m at the Lafayette 7-Way Invitational. His 17.60m season-high currently sits him 30th in the NCAA East Region and puts him in position to qualify for the First Round of the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
Knowles, a business major boasting a 3.33 GPA is coming off a fantastic sophomore campaign where he successfully defended his decathlon title at the Patriot League Championships. He set both a school and league championship meet record with 7,001 points, which currently has him seeded 24th in the NCAA East Region, and is the best score in the Patriot League this year by nearly 1,000 points. He set five new PRS during the event, and previously set a new personal benchmark in the javelin at the Lafayette 7-Way Invitational. He is a four-time Patriot League champion, having won both heptathlons (indoor) and decathlons (outdoor) through his first two seasons.
The all-league nod is the second such recognition for both Warning and Knowles in their careers, with each having earned the honor earlier this year during the indoor season.
