BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The top two teams in the early-season Patriot League standings meet for three games this weekend as Lehigh visits Army West Point. The Mountain Hawks and Black Knights will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a single game Sunday at noon from the Army Softball Complex.

Lehigh is off to a 6-0 start in Patriot League play but will play its next nine league games away from Leadership Park, where the Mountain Hawks have swept Lafayette and Colgate. The Mountain Hawks' original first road league series at Boston University April 2-3 was postponed due to weather and will now be made up in Boston on April 26-27.

The Mountain Hawks (25-9) are coming off a doubleheader split with Manhattan, Wednesday at Leadership Park as the Jaspers took the opener 4-3 before Lehigh won the nightcap by the same 4-3 score. Lehigh used a four-run fifth inning in game two to take the lead for good, with junior Vicky Lattanzio delivering the go-ahead two-run double. Seniors Jessica Calvini and MacKenzie Velasquez followed with RBI base hits to cap a four-run frame.

Freshman Emily Sorem was strong in the pitcher's circle, allowing one earned run in seven innings while striking out 10 to earn her 11th win. Sorem leads Lehigh with a 2.51 ERA and 83 strikeouts. Junior Christine Campbell had a tough outing in game one, but has been strong in league play with a 4-0 record and 0.31 ERA in four appearances.

Senior Morgan Decker continues to lead the offense, despite a 1-for-5 showing on Wednesday. Decker's batting average stands at .454 while she still leads the league with 15 doubles, six home runs and 31 RBIs. She is 8-for-18 in league games with five RBIs. Sophomore Carolyn Wright is 5-for-9, while seven of Calvini's 13 RBIs have come in league games.

Army West Point comes in at 24-14 overall and 6-2 in the league. The Black Knights swept Boston University to open league play then split two games at Colgate and most recently won 2-of-3 at Bucknell. Army West Point most recently won the Patriot League title in 2013 and has crossed paths with Lehigh in May numerous times over the last 15 years.

Alee Rashenskas leads the Black Knights in batting at .411. Kasey McCravey has five home runs to go along with a .378 average, while Emily Gray leads the Cadets with 25 RBIs.

The Black Knights have a three-pitcher staff with all three hurlers having thrown at least 77 innings this year. Renee Poirer leads Army in ERA (2.47) and strikeouts (55); Caroline Smith has thrown the most innings (93); and Kristen West has the most victories (11).

Lehigh leads the all-time series with Army West Point 82-34. The Mountain Hawks won three of four games against the Black Knights last year, with Army winning the first game of the regular season series before Lehigh came back to win the final two games of the series and claim a win in the opening round of the Patriot League Tournament.

Army West Point will offer streaming audio of Saturday's doubleheader, while Sunday's single game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
