BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's swimming juniors Jacob Moyar, Jamal Willis and Justin White have each earned All-Patriot League honors, the league office announced on Wednesday. Moyar represents the Mountain Hawks on the First Team, with Willis and White landing on the Second Team.
The women's team also had five student-athletes garner Second Team All-League accolades, including senior Carolyn Koch, juniors Kelly Carroll, Kaitlyn Ruffing and Cora Summerfield, along with sophomore Julianne Koch.
The recognition is the third of Moyar's career, after being named a First Team All-League pick in 2014 and earning second teams honors a season ago. Moyar highlighted his weekend by surpassing three NCAA B-cut times in the 200 IM (3rd/1:48.67), 400 IM (5th/3:52.60) and the 200 yard butterfly (4th/1:46.78). He had a hand in all five men's school records set during the meet, including on the 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams.
White received second team accolades for the second straight year after finishing the championships with 34.50 points. He tied for fourth in the 50 yard freestyle, finished fourth in the 100 freestyle, finished fourth in the 'B' finals of the 200 yard freestyle and competed on the 400 medley relay team. He joined Moyar on both the record setting 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams, landing on the podium with a third place finish on the 400 free relay team.
Willis lands on the second team for the third straight year after helping to set a pair of school records for the 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams. He swam the opening leg of the 400 free relay, helping the team to a third place finish and was the runner-up in the finals of the 50 yard freestyle for the third season in a row. Willis ranked third on the team with 17 points scored at the championship.
On the women's side, Carolyn Koch scored 35 points to lead the team for the third time in four years at the league championships. She was a part of the runner-up 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams that all set school records. She also finished fifth overall in both the 100 and 200 freestyles and 10th in the 50 free.
Ruffing took fourth place in the 100 free, as well as second in the 50 free, 200 free relay and 400 relay to finish the meet with 32 points, earning her third all-league honor in as many years. Kelly Carroll added 31 points and set two school records during the week in the 100 yard butterfly 'B' finals and the prelims of the 200 IM. She also added a seventh place finish in the 200 fly to help earn her second straight all-league nod.
Summerfield earns her third career all-league honor after winning the 'B' final of the 500 free and setting a new school record with her second placing showing in the 1650 freestyle. Julianne Koch finished second with the three freestyle relay teams in addition to a fifth place tally with the 400 yard medley relay squad. Individually, she led the team with a fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle and finished seventh in the 100 free.
Overall, the Lehigh women finished this year's championships in fifth place, while the men took home sixth.
