BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team puts it 2-0 record on the line Friday at 5 p.m. when the Mountain Hawks host Stony Brook inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
Lehigh opened its season last weekend with a pair of impressive victories as the Mountain Hawks took down Drexel 4-3 and Saint Francis (Pa.) 5-2. Lehigh handed both teams their first loss of the season. The Mountain Hawks claimed the final four singles matches as freshman George Cooper clinched the match at No. 5 singles in the 4-3 win over the Dragons. Lehigh earned the doubles points and four flights of singles, including a victory from freshman Bryant Born at No. 2 singles that clinched the match against the Red Flash.
Sophomore Jack Petersen and freshman Christopher Auteri are both 2-0 in singles play so far this season, while senior Jeremy Kochman and junior Graham Lehman have won both their doubles matches at the top flight.
Stony Brook will be seeing its first dual meet action of the spring season after its scheduled season opener at St. John's on Feb. 5 was postponed. The Seawolves are coming off a 5-8 2015 season.
The Mountain Hawks earned a 4-3 victory over Stony Brook in last season's meeting on Feb. 13 inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Lehigh won three three-set singles matches and the contest was tied 3-3 going into No. 6 singles, but current junior Ethan Bogard rallied from a set down to defeat Brandon Stone and clinch the match for the Mountain Hawks.
Following Friday's match, Lehigh will remain home to host Delaware and Mount St. Mary's next weekend.
