
Kempton earns second straight Patriot League Player of the Week award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following another sensational week, Lehigh men's basketball senior Tim Kempton has been named the Patriot League's Player of the Week on Monday. Kempton scored 54 points and grabbed 22 rebounds over games against Yale and Princeton, recording a double-double in each contest. The award marks Kempton's fifth Player of the Week honor of Kempton's career.
Kempton's double-doubles were the 34th and 35th of his career. The Scottsdale, Arizona native began the week with a career-high 30 points at Yale Thursday, along with 11 rebounds. He shot 11-of-20 from the field and scored five of Lehigh's eight points in overtime. Then on Sunday, Kempton recorded game highs in points (24) and rebounds (11) in a big 76-67 win over preseason Ivy League favorite Princeton, converting 7-of-13 field goals while adding a career-high tying four assists, three blocks and a steal. He scored 17 of his points in the second half to help Lehigh outscore the Tigers 42-33 over the final 20 minutes.
For the season, Kempton is eighth nationally in scoring average (26.3 points per game) while his 9.7 rebounds per contest lead the Patriot League and stand top 50 nationally. With his 11 rebounds for the week, he moved from seventh to fifth place in Patriot League history in career boards (now with 791). Kempton is the nation's active leader in career rebounds.
Also recognized on Monday was freshman Jordan Cohen, who broke out for 20 points and six assists against Princeton in his first-career start. He finished 7-of-8 from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range and is shooting 77 percent from the field this year (10-of-13).
The Mountain Hawks now hit the road to face Mississippi State this Friday at 8 p.m. ET before heading to Arkansas State on Sunday for a 2:30 p.m. ET opening tipoff.
