Mountain Hawks Travel to Patriot League Leading Loyola on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After a week layoff from competition, the Lehigh men's soccer will resume play on Saturday night with a trip to Loyola for a Patriot League contest starting at 7 p.m.

The Mountain Hawks enter Saturday's tilt with a 1-3-0 record in the Patriot League and a 4-7-1 record overall. LU is coming off a 1-1-0 record last week in two home PL contests against Navy and Army West Point. Lehigh defeated Navy 2-1 in overtime last Wednesday when Oscar Greene netted the game-winner in the 96th minute and then fell, 4-1, to Army last Saturday as Doyle Tuvesson had the lone tally on a penalty.
Lehigh is averaging 11.58 shots per game with 4.92 shots on goal per game and is averaging 1.00 goals per game while allowing 1.50 goals per game. Mark Forrest leads Lehigh offensively and ranks second in the Patriot League with 1.22 points per game. Forrest ranks sixth in the PL with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Will Smith has assumed the starting role in goal in recent games and in five starts has posted a 1.33 goals-against-average with a save percentage of .774 and one shutout.
The Patriot League leading Greyhounds are the only undefeated team in PL play with a record 3-0-1 to go along with an overall record of 5-5-2. Loyola is coming off consecutive draws starting with a 3-3 tie with Boston University last Saturday, followed by a 1-1 tie with St. John's on Wednesday.
Loyola ranks towards the bottom of the league with an average of 11.25 shots per game with a 4.67 shot-on-goal average. The Greyhounds are averaging 1.33 goals per game while giving up 1.50 goals per game. Brian Saramago leads Loyola offensively and ranks fifth in the PL with 1.17 points per game while ranking first in the league with 4.08 shots per game. Saramago is tied for third in the PL with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Matt Sanchez has made 10 starts in goal for Loyola as he owns a 1.49 goals-against-average with a .681 save percentage and three shutouts.
Lehigh is 2-3 on the road this season, including a 0-2 mark on the road against Patriot League opponents. Loyola is 2-2-1 at home this season with a 1-0-1 record against PL opponents at home.
In three meetings all-time with Loyola, Lehigh owns a 2-1 record in the series. The Mountain Hawks lost the only previous meeting in Baltimore, 2-1, in double overtime in 2014.
