BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's cross country team is set for its final two meets before the Patriot League Championships this Saturday. The team will split up to compete at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., hosted by Indiana State, and the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette.
The Mountain Hawks will send seven runners – Alexander Fitzgerald, Ryan Cooney, Patrick Reilly, Ryan Grace, Samuel Layding, Jeffrey Kirshenbaum, and Matt Kravitz – to see how they stack up against some of the nation's top competition at the Pre-Nationals. All other Lehigh runners will compete on Saturday at the Leopard Invite.
Saturday's Pre-Nationals will take place on the same course that will host the NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 19, and will feature some of the nation's top teams and runners in six different races throughout the day. Lehigh will be one of 41 teams, all ranked in the top 14 of their respective regions, to take part in the Blue Race beginning 11:35 a.m. The Mountain Hawks are ranked ninth in the latest USTFCCCA rankings. The deep field of teams making the trip will also include seven nationally ranked teams and three more who are receiving votes, including Oregon (4), Arkansas (5), Colorado (6), UTEP (12), Indiana (13), Eastern Kentucky (15) and Michigan (20). Live results will be available free of charge, and FloTrack will provide a live video stream of all events through their subscription service. Complete meet information and all links can also be found on the Pre-National's Meet Central page.
Saturday at Lafayette will serve as the last chance for Lehigh to compete and run on the same course that will host the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 29. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex.
