Several successful performances highlight fall opener at Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – The Lehigh men's tennis team opened its fall slate this weekend at the Saint Joseph's Invitational with many strong performances. A Mountain Hawk reached the semifinals in all four flights of singles, while junior Tyler Hansen came out on top of flight four.
Sophomore Jack Petersen led Lehigh in flight one singles, defeating Shane Jeffray of Delaware and Renier Moolman of Saint Joseph's to reach the semifinals before falling to eventual flight champion Andres Urrea. Sophomore Dylan Karchere-Sun also represented the Mountain Hawks in the top flight.
Freshman Christopher Auteri put together a strong collegiate debut, making it to the finals of flight two singles after defeating opponents from Drexel, Villanova and Lehigh. Auteri fell to Penn's Gabriel Rapoport in the finals. Freshmen George Cooper and Bryant Born also combined to go 5-2 in flight two.
Junior Colin Nardella led the way in flight three, winning his first two matches against opponents from Villanova and Delaware to reach the semifinals where he fell to eventual champion Andre Fick of Saint Joseph's. Junior Graham Lehman and senior Ricardo Prince also represented Lehigh in the third flight.
Hansen was crowed the champion of flight four singles after winning straight-set matches against Nick Ringle (SJU) and Justin Burrus (Villanova) and tiebreak matches against Daniil Ginzburg (Drexel) and Sean Gorwara (Villanova). Freshman Sam Bencheghib earned a pair of wins in the consolation bracket, while junior Jason Stuker also saw action.
The doubles flight one teams of Lehman/Petersen and Cooper/Karchere-Sun both rallied from a first-round loss to advance to the consolation championship, which will be played at Lehigh at a later date. In flight two doubles, the team of Hansen and Sutker were able to reach the finals of the consolation round where the Mountain Hawks fell to Delaware.
